Kamarajar

Kamarajar was a great leader and freedom fighter of India. He was born on 15 July 1903 in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu. He joined the Indian National Congress when he was 16 years old and participated in many movements against the British rule. He was arrested several times and spent many years in jail.

Kamarajar became the Chief Minister of Madras State (now Tamil Nadu) in 1954 and served for nine years. He introduced many reforms and schemes for the welfare of the people. He started the free Midday Meal Scheme for school children, which improved their health and education. He also expanded the road network, irrigation facilities, and industrial development in the state.

Kamarajar was also a national leader and the president of the Indian National Congress for two terms. He played a key role in selecting Lal Bahadur Shastri and Indira Gandhi as the Prime Ministers of India after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru. He was known for his honesty, simplicity, and integrity. He was called the "Kingmaker", the "Black Gandhi", and the "Perunthalaivar" by the people.

Kamarajar died on 2 October 1975 in Chennai. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour of India, posthumously in 1976. Many institutions, roads, and places are named after him in Tamil Nadu. He is an inspiration for all of us and a pride of our nation.
